Winter Workshop — From the Invisible to Form

This pottery workshop in Zurich takes place in a small-group ceramic studio and focuses on translating intention into form through clay.

Over three sessions, participants design and build a personal ceramic altar using hand-building techniques. The process combines focused ceramic practice with selected Daoist cosmological principles, offering a structured yet open framework for reflection and making.

What you will explore

– Designing and constructing a personal ceramic structure
– Hand-building techniques (slab, carving, surface work)
– Spatial presence, proportion and symbolic form
– Individual Tao Alignment consultation (Qimen cosmology)
– Glazing or optional pit firing

A winter practice

Aligned with the introspective qualities of winter, the workshop emphasises slowing down, clarity and essentialisation.

Working in a calm ceramic studio in Zurich, participants develop a more grounded relationship to material and intention.

What you develop

– clarity of intention in form-making
– sensitivity to structure and proportion
– ability to translate symbolic ideas into material form

Continue your practice

For those who wish to continue working with clay, regular pottery classes in Zurich are available throughout the year.
