Pottery classes and ceramic studio in Zurich
Clay & Tao offers flexible pottery classes in small groups of up to four participants.
Rather than fixed courses or unguided open studio formats, the studio supports the development of a sustained ceramic practice through continuity and personalised guidance.
Choose your orientation
Participants may begin through hand-building or wheel throwing, depending on their sensibility and experience.
Hand-building offers an intuitive and grounded entry into clay.
Wheel throwing introduces precision, balance and embodied movement, and is progressively integrated into regular practice.
Practice formats
Introductory sessions
For those wishing to discover the studio, begin pottery practice, or attend a session for a special occasion.
Practice packs
For participants wishing to develop continuity and technical progression. These packs allow participants to build a regular rhythm of practice while benefiting from continuous guidance and seasonal orientation.
Wheel introduction
Wheel throwing is not offered as a stand-alone one-time experience.
It is introduced as part of an ongoing ceramic practice.
Participants wishing to begin wheel work start with:
Private introduction to wheel throwing (90 min)
CHF 150
This session is available for participants who commit to at least a 10-hour practice pack. It provides the essential foundations of posture, breath and centered movement before joining regular classes.
This ensures that wheel practice develops within continuity rather than as an isolated experience.
Seasonal workshops
A series of seasonal ceramic workshops offer focused moments of immersion throughout the year, complementing regular studio practice.
Over time, participants develop not only technical skills but also a coherent and personal relationship to making.
