20-Hour Ceramic Practice Pack in Zurich

Sustained pottery practice at Clay & Tao ceramic studio

The 20-hour ceramic practice pack is designed for those wishing to develop a deeper and more consistent relationship with clay.
This format supports sustained technical progression, material understanding and the emergence of a personal approach to making.

Sessions take place in small groups of up to four participants, allowing for close guidance and meaningful follow-up within a calm and focused ceramic studio environment in Zurich.

Rather than attending isolated pottery classes, participants build continuity through regular engagement with hand-building, wheel throwing and surface processes.

Developing a sustained ceramic practice

The extended format allows participants to move beyond initial exploration and develop greater structural confidence, technical precision and sensitivity to material behaviour.

Over time, repetition and continuity support the integration of both hand-building and wheel throwing within a coherent practice.

Wheel work may be introduced progressively following the private wheel throwing introduction or as continuity develops.

Areas of exploration

Hand-building pottery
Structural construction, form refinement and the development of a personal visual language through coil, slab and sculptural processes.

Wheel throwing
Progressive development of centring, stability and ergonomic movement through a slower, attentive teaching approach.

Surface and glazing
Exploration of engobes, texture and glaze processes using studio-developed, laboratory-tested and food-safe ceramic glazes.

Seasonal opportunities for alternative firing processes, including pit firing, are offered throughout the year.

A flexible yet committed format

The 20-hour pack can be used across regular pottery classes and selected ceramic workshops in Zurich.
This flexible structure allows participants to establish a regular rhythm of practice while adapting sessions to their schedule.

Credits remain valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
Sessions may be rescheduled up to 48 hours in advance.

Working with clay takes time: drying, firing, cooling… Each step is important to ensure your pieces turn out well. I do my best to have every creation fired as quickly as possible, but there may be some waiting time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
