10-Hour Ceramic Practice Pack in Zurich

Flexible pottery classes at Clay & Tao ceramic studio

The 10-hour ceramic practice pack offers a flexible way to begin or deepen pottery practice in a small-group ceramic studio in Zurich.

Designed for continuity rather than one-time workshops, this format supports the gradual development of technical skills, material understanding and personal expression. Sessions take place in groups of up to four participants, allowing for individual guidance and meaningful progression.

Participants may explore hand-building, wheel throwing and surface techniques while developing a sustained relationship with clay.

What you can learn

Hand-building pottery
Develop structural understanding, sensitivity to form and a direct relationship with clay through coil, slab and sculptural processes.

Wheel throwing
Learn pottery wheel techniques progressively within regular studio practice or following the private wheel throwing introduction.

Glazing and surface development
Experiment with texture, colour and finishes using studio-developed, laboratory-tested and food-safe ceramic glazes.

Seasonal opportunities for alternative firing processes, including pit firing, are offered throughout the year.

  12. Clay is a precious, non-renewable material. We encourage you to be mindful and intentional when choosing which pieces to keep and fire.

  13. Our studio works with a small kiln, which means firings are done gradually and only when the kiln is full, to avoid wasting energy. Working with clay takes time: drying, firing, cooling… Each step is important to ensure your pieces turn out well. I do my best to have every creation fired as quickly as possible, but there may be some waiting time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

  14. Swiss law applies and Geneva court is competent.
