Sunday Clay Sessions #1 — The Matisse Muesli Bowl

CHF 140.00

Discover the art of cut-outs in clay in this hands-on ceramics workshop inspired by Henri Matisse’s bold shapes and colors.

Using the slab-building technique, you’ll form and assemble your own functional muesli bowl, then explore surface decoration with engobes — colored slips made from clay mixed with natural pigments and ochres. Layer, paint, and compose graphic cut-out motifs to create a vibrant, one-of-a-kind piece.

Sunday Clay Sessions is an ongoing series designed to help you experiment with different forms and decorative techniques, one Sunday at a time. Perfect for beginners and returning students alike.

  1. Purchased courses are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

  3. Use of the throwing wheel is reserved for students who followed the introduction course with us or already have basic knowledge.

  4. The price for material amounts to 10 CHF per kilo (the rate is subject to modification should the electricity or material costs change). Should you want that I finish your ceramics, the cost amonts to 30 chf per kilo.

  5. Glazing sessions are priced at 47 CHF per hour (outside of a pack). We recommend 1 hour for smaller or simpler pieces and 2 hours for lager works or more detailed decorations. They can be purchased at the studio directly.

  6. Courses are held in English, German, Italian and French depending on the participants wish.

  7. Students are asked to leave their workplaces clean. Cleaning time is included in the lesson time. It takes between 10 and 15 minutes, depending on the student's speed.

  8. Every hour begun is due in full.

  9. Bringing your own materials is not allowed. Only studio-provided materials may be used.

  10. We kindly ask that all pieces be finished and picked up within 3 months of their start date.

  11. For safety reasons, glazing must be done during designated hours. Students are required to wear black nitrile gloves and an FFP3 mask while glazing. Eating or drinking during glazing is strictly prohibited.

  12. Clay is a precious, non-renewable material. We encourage you to be mindful and intentional when choosing which pieces to keep and fire.

  13. Our studio works with a small kiln, which means firings are done gradually and only when the kiln is full, to avoid wasting energy. Working with clay takes time: drying, firing, cooling… Each step is important to ensure your pieces turn out well. I do my best to have every creation fired as quickly as possible, but there may be some waiting time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

  14. Swiss law applies, Geneva courts are competent.
