Intro to the wheel - Centered Hands

  • In this immersive course, pottery becomes more than a craft — it becomes a spiritual practice. Rooted in Taoist philosophy and a meditative approach to the wheel, Centered Hands invites you to work with clay through mindfulness, breath, and presence. This method weaves together breath work, conscious shaping, and Taoist principles of harmony, flow, and effortless action (wu wei).

We throw on the wheel not just to create vessels, but to center ourselves — to let energy circulate again, clearing away stagnation from our bodies and lives. Rather than focusing solely on outward form, we learn to shape from the inside out, connecting deeply with the clay — and with our own internal landscape — through attentive, unhurried movement.

Through steady hands, rooted breath, and soft focus, we listen to the rhythms of the clay and the life force moving through it.
This course is a sanctuary for anyone seeking a deeper relationship with creativity, embodiment, and the natural wisdom of flow.

    Key elements:

    • Breath work practices to center and ground before throwing

    • Taoist philosophy woven into creative process and movement

    • Mindful, embodied wheel work emphasizing internal awareness

    • Shaping vessels from the inside out

    • Pottery as a tool for energetic circulation and clearing stagnation

    • Cultivating patience, intuition, and non-resistance through clay

    • Pottery as metaphor and practice for inner cultivation

Centered Hands offers a path to slow down, listen deeply, and co-create with the living spirit of earth.
